Seeking a Homeland for here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come

2009 was a year full of new developments for both of us. While Chris continued working towards his Master’s degree at Jerusalem University College in Israel, Mindy undertook the (the sometimes daunting) task of learning photography. In addition to those constants this year has brought us Israeli tackle football, archaeological excavations, tour guiding, and blogging. These new activities have brought more responsibilities our way and at times anxiety (except for football of course – the ultimate worry evaporator), but throughout the year the Maker of Heaven and Earth has proven to be our constant assurer. The ever-present Prince of Peace has shown himself to be the only trustworthy source of peace worth hoping in.

We are so thankful for the peace of the Lord in times of pressure – for the shalom of Christ when the weight of uncompleted tasks and responsibilities overwhelms us. It is mind-boggling to think that the King of all would come to our rebellious world in order to bring us peace, yet more amazing still is His continued care and grace for his redeemed traitors. Christ brought peace through his death and resurrection, but that was not the end. The Lord God is actively making his children new again – perfecting and renewing His fallen creation until He returns in glory. May he come soon!
